A native of Zionsville, Indiana, Dr. Melissa Elrod graduated from Clemson University in 2006 with a B.S. in Psychology and then went on to earn a Masters in Public Health degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2008, with a concentration in Epidemiology, before graduating with a Doctorate of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2012. She is currently a member of the Indiana Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry.
After starting with Lanter EyeCare in 2010 as a student intern, Dr. Elrod later joined the practice as an optometrist in 2012. She sees patients of all ages for eye examinations, with a focus on contact lense fitting, pediatrics, and ocular disease. Dr. Elord practices primarily at the Castleton office, while taking occasional appointments at the Carmel and Greenwood offices. She is also available for Saturday appointments.
Dr. Elrod is married and currently lives in Indianapolis. She is an avid runner and enjoys hot yoga and traveling.
